Andalucia Day
Andalucía Day—Día de Andalucía—is celebrated every year on the 28th February throughout the autonomous community of Andalusia, in southern Spain. It commemorates the referendum held on 28 February 1980, in which the people voted in favor of the region becoming an autonomous community.
Towns and cities are covered in the green and white flag of Andalusia, banners, bunting, and decorations in public spaces and balconies.
Across municipalities there are parades, concerts, flamenco performances, craft fairs, and cooking contests. It’s a day for both reflection and celebration as people gather with family, attend events in plazas, and savor the local gastronomy.
